I bought the TS-453A about a year ago, this is the first and only nas I've ever had. This summer I bought 3 additional license (the nas comes with 4 standard) for the extra cameras I had bought. Every thing worked fine until I did a firmware upgrade a couple of weeks ago (I've done several upgrades without any problems). I noticed I was missing 3 cameras from surveillance station, when I looked at the license manager I noticed the 3 additional license were gone. I tried to reinstall using the PAK number but I got the error 1205. After some back and forth with customer service this is the response I got this response:

May I know whether you still have a TS-251 NAS (UDI xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)? After checking, the license activated on the TS-251 NAS, that's why got the error 1205 message on the TS-453A.
Please deactivate your license from TS-251 NAS by the following steps (Online deactivation):
1. Go to the [QTS desktop > APP center > My Licenses].
2. In the last column of right side table, look for Action column and then click deactivation.
3. Follow the instruction to deactivate your license, then click download in the Action column to get the deactivation file. Please send the deactivation file to me.
I confirmed with NAS engineer, TS-251 can't become TS-453A just via update firmware only, we thought you do the disk migration from TS-251 to TS-453A. Thus, please find the TS-251 NAS out and then follow above steps to deactivate the license. If TS-251 changed disk, please install the PAK and then follow above steps to deactivate license again.

They are saying that I had the license on a different nas and that I'm trying to install them on another nas. I've only had one nas. The only thing that's been done is that the nas died after a 3 months and I sent it in for repairs (to qnap) and they said that they and to replace the motherboard. This info should be in their records and I've also mentioned this in the emails. Qnap is essentially stealing $150 from a legitimate customer and I thought that other people should be aware that this could happen to you after a firmware update.
